Pakistan New Import Regulations

PRESS RELEASE                   Islamabad, November 22, 2012.

         The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet met here today under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to discuss various agenda items of national importance. The following decisions were taken in the meeting.

         The ECC  approved the recommendations of the committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister/Senior Minister for Industries with its members, Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Secretary Ministry of Industries and Chairman FBR for reduction in the age limit of import of used cars from five to three years. The ECC decided that the implementation date of the decision will be effective from December 15, 2012 in order to facilitate the already in process orders for the import of used cars. The measure will provide relief to the local auto vendors industry which is being hurt badly by the import of used cars.
